Description
The King County Housing Authority (KCHA) is issuing a competitive Request for Proposals (RFP) for a qualified organization to operate and manage workforce development programs in the City of Kent. Services shall be targeted to participants of subsidized housing programs in the Kent Easthill area and neighboring communities.
Scope of Work
In addition to providing stable housing, the King County Housing Authority strongly believes in providing support services to its residents through various opportunities. Providing residents with effective programs and services that improve their economic opportunities and resilience is one of the core strategies of the Authority. This RFP seeks qualified applicants to support residents in their journey to increase their economic well-being through training and employment opportunities. In order to meet the variety of needs and experiences of residents, services offered must include pre-employment services, employment readiness services, and career pathway services. In its service model, the successful applicant(s) shall demonstrate it has the expertise to:
1) Promote increased economic well-being by helping residents transition from subsidy
programs to employment;
2) Integrate technology and use of technology in skills training;
3) Provide job training for a diverse population including recent immigrants; English Language
Learners; youth, adults, and older adults; formerly homeless; and professional immigrants;
4) Expand educational opportunities for residents, including GED or post-secondary education
(college, short term training programs, trade schools, etc.) attainment; and
5) Provide other services deemed necessary from resident input.
The successful applicant is also expected to work and collaborate with other employment and training
programs/services available to residents in their service area.
