Dream to Keys Homeownership

The Dream to Keys Homeownership Program is for first-time homebuyers who already have a KCHA voucher or subsidized housing. You purchase a home with a mortgage and pay about 31% of your income towards your mortgage.

About the program

Affordable homeownership can improve long-term stability, wellness, and economic prosperity as well as intergenerational wealth. KCHA’s Dream to Keys Homeownership Program allows current Subsidized Housing or Housing Choice Voucher tenants to use a voucher towards a mortgage payment for a home of their own. Applicants must be in good standing with KCHA, meet eligibility requirements, and be able to secure a mortgage loan.

Eligibility

To be eligibile for the Dream to Keys HCV Homeownership Program, you must:

  • First attend an information session (see below for times)
  • Be a KCHA participant in good standing for the last 12 months
