Housing Options in Renton

The King County Housing Authority provides the following rental housing and rental assistance programs in unincorporated areas of Renton. The Renton Housing Authority offers more options within the city.

Section 8 Vouchers

Section 8 vouchers help people with low incomes rent homes on the private market. With a voucher, you pay at least 28 percent, but not more than 40 percent (in the first year), of household income for rent and utilities. KCHA pays the difference between your portion of the rent and the amount your landlord requests. Learn about Section 8 vouchers.

Subsidized Housing

Subsidized housing – which includes public housing – helps people with low incomes rent apartments they can afford. In most cases, they pay no more than 30 percent of their household's monthly income for rent and utilities. KCHA owns and manages nearly all of this type of housing and many communities offer on-site social services. Learn about subsidized housing.

Spacious apartments in a cozy community on Benson Hill, just outside incorporated Renton. Residents have access to a playground and laundry facilities. Glenview is conveniently close to shopping and services on 108th Avenue Southeast and South 180th Street.

Spacious manufactured homes with large yards. Each home features two bathrooms, washer/dryer hookups, a carport and a storage area. Vista Heights is located just outside Renton city limits, in the Benson Hill neighborhood. Stores and restaurants are plentiful at the Benson Plaza shopping center.

Single-family homes with large lawns. Located just outside Renton city limits, in the Benson Hill neighborhood, Young's Lake is conveniently located near stores and restaurants on the Benson Highway.

Other Rental Housing

KCHA's other rental housing helps people with low incomes rent apartments they can afford. Some tenants pay a percentage of their income toward rent each month, while others pay a flat rent amount. Fairwood

Comfortable apartments within a couple of blocks of the Fairwood Shopping Center, Fairwood Golf Course, restaurants and the Fairwood Library. In unincorporated King County, this is a beautiful garden court community with many amenities, including a swimming pool, playground and recreation building equipped with an exercise room, and laundry facilities.
