Section 8 Waiting List & Lottery
KCHA's waiting list for Section 8 Housing Choice Vouchers is closed
Using a random lottery drawing, 2,500 applicants were chosen for the current list in March 2020. We notified these applicants with printed letters and emails sent in the last week of March 2020. If you are on the current waiting list and your contact information changes, please let us know using the Application Change Form.
We do not know when the waiting list will re-open in the future.
Housing Choice Vouchers are funded by the federal government. KCHA manages this federal program, and has a limited number of vouchers to distribute. Applicants must meet several requirements in order to be eligible.

Lottery Number Search
You can look up your lottery number to find out if you're on the waiting list. There are two ways to do this. In the boxes below, you can enter the confirmation number you received after submitting your application, or enter your head of household's birth date and the last 4 digits of their social security number.
The date and numbers must exactly match what you put on your application. If you applied but cannot find your number using this tool, contact the Section 8 office.
