Whether you’re a Subsidized Housing resident or a tenant with a Housing choice Voucher, find information specific to you about paying rent, reporting changes, and more.

Coming Soon: New Access Portal

Starting in mid-2027, Subsidized Housing residents will be to easily pay rent, and all clients including voucher participants will be able to complete other tasks in an online Access Portal. You will still be able to access everything you need from our website, and we encourage you to try the online system when it becomes available.

Pay rent and know the specifics

Residents of Subsidized Housing communities may choose to pay their rent online, by mail, or by phone. Whichever method you choose, your full rent is due on the first day of the month. Payments not received by the seventh day of the month are considered late.

Report a change in family or income

If you have a Housing Choice Voucher, you must report a change in the number of family members or a change in income to KCHA within 30 days.

Move to a different home

After your initial 12-month lease ends, you can use your Housing Choice Voucher with other Housing Authorities in other cities or states. The steps to move with your voucher depend on where you want to live.

Recertify your rent

KCHA must regularly verify your eligibility for a voucher. KCHA must also make sure that you continue to pay your fair share of rent and utilities.
