Weatherization & Repair
KCHA works with private contractors to provide weatherization and housing repair services for people with low incomes. The projects help improve privately owned single-family, multifamily, and mobile homes. We spend $4 million to $5 million each year on these projects and work with general and specialty contractors.
KCHA solicits bids for housing repair projects from interested contractors. For weatherization projects, we most often work with firms already under contract. KCHA selects these contractors through a competitive process based on their work quality and pricing.
Most contracts for single-family and mobile home improvements cost less than $20,000. Multifamily weatherization contracts can exceed $100,000.
In doing business with KCHA's Weatherization department a contractor is required to operate under the regulations of the Washington State Weatherization program as administered by the Department of Commerce. Listed below are the links to the primary regulations:
